2022 UAW International Officer Election

Election Results

The vote count for the 2022 UAW International Officer Election (the “2022 Election”) began on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, and was completed on Friday, December 2, 2022. Information regarding the Election results is included below.

In accordance with the Election Rules and the UAW Constitution, newly elected UAW International Officers were installed on December 12, 2022.

Results

International President: Ray Curry received the most votes but did not achieve a majority as required by the UAW Constitution and Election Rules. Accordingly, Ray Curry and Shawn Fain—the two top vote-getters—participated in a Run-Off Election pursuant to the UAW Constitution and Section 2-17 of the Election Rules. International Secretary-Treasurer: Margaret Mock received a majority of the votes for International Secretary-Treasurer and was sworn-in on December 12, 2022.

International Vice-President: Mike Booth and Rich Boyer both received a majority of votes as required under UAW Constitution Article 10, Section 5, and were sworn-in on December 12, 2022. According to the UAW Constitution, and Section 2-17 of the Election Rules, a run-off election must be held for the third International Vice-President position. Where there are seven (7) or more candidates and only two (2) receive a majority, the run-off is confined to the candidates who finished in third and fourth positions. Region 1 Regional Director: LaShawn English received a majority of the votes for Regional Director, Region 1 and was sworn-in on December 12, 2022.

Region 1A Regional Director: Laura Dickerson received a majority of the votes for Regional Director, Region 1A and was sworn-in on December 12, 2022.

Region 1D Regional Director: Steve Dawes received a majority of the votes for Regional Director, Region 1D and was sworn-in on December 12, 2022.

Region 2B Regional Director: Dave Green received a majority of the votes for Regional Director, Region 2B and was sworn-in on December 12, 2022.

Region 4 Regional Director: Brandon Campbell received a majority of the votes for Regional Director, Region 4 and was sworn-in on December 12, 2022.

Region 6 Regional Director: Mike Miller received a majority of the votes for Regional Director, Region 6 and was sworn-in on December 12, 2022.

Region 8 Regional Director: Tim Smith received a majority of the votes for Regional Director, Region 8 and was sworn-in on December 12, 2022.

Region 9 Regional Director: Daniel Vicente received the most votes but did not achieve a majority as required by the UAW Constitution and Election Rules. Accordingly, Daniel Vicente and Lauren Farrell—the two top vote-getters—participated in a Run-Off Election pursuant to the UAW Constitution and Section 2-17 of the Election Rules. Region 9A Regional Director: Brandon Mancilla received a majority of the votes for Regional Director, Region 9A and was sworn-in on December 12, 2022.

Run-Off Election

As referenced above, following the 2022 Election, there was a Run-Off Election for the office of International President (candidates Ray Curry and Shawn Fain), International Vice-President (candidates Chuck Browning and Tim Bressler), and the Regional Director of Region 9 (candidates Daniel Vicente and Lauren Farrell). Protests and Results Certification

Pursuant to Section 2-15 of the Official Rules for the 2022 Election, on June 16, 2023, the Monitor certified the 2022 UAW International Officer Election and Run-Off Election results after resolving all internal protest and appeal procedures.  The Monitor’s Seventh Status Report certifying the 2022 UAW International Officer Election and Run-Off Election is available here.

Vote Tally Sheets

Below please find links to the tally sheets produced by the Vote Counting Machines, during the Vote Count week.  Please note that the review of the challenged ballots modified the individual totals in each region, so please review the All Regions - Final with Challenges above for the accurate final totals. Additionally, the Ballot Cast Total reflects the number of ballots scanned by the vote count machines. The number of votes cast for each candidate may not reflect the same total number of ballots in the Ballot Cast Total column for each Region because not every ballot included a countable vote in each race.
